Hello, welcome to my website, I'm happy you're here!

Finding a therapist can be hard work, especially when trying to find support during a vulnerable time. I hope the following information gives you some idea of what I'm able to offer you. You are very welcome to get in touch to book a free initial meeting or to ask me any questions you may have.

I'm Patsy (she/they) and I offer counselling for adult individuals and intimate partners, in-person in Central Brighton and across Europe via Zoom.

A little bit about how I work:

I'm a qualified, registered and insured therapist and have been practicing in private practice for a number of years. I'm a professional member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and am committed to their ethical framework: NCPS | Code of Ethics

I'm experienced and able to support you with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, developmental trauma, identity exploration, chronic illness, relationships difficulties and many other experiences that us humans can grapple with.

I aim to be a strong support alongside you, offering space to share your thoughts and feelings, and it's a collaborative relationship where I might offer new perspectives, as well as tools and resources. My style is interactive and sometimes directive, meaning I don't just listen and nod     ~ though being listened to in itself can be very powerful at times.

My practice is affirmative of all genders, sexualities and relationship constellations.

Neurodivergence in all it's nuances is recognised, not pathologised, and I aim to provide a ND-friendly environment. I have a range of sensory toys in my practice and you are very welcome to bring along anything that is helpful to you.

Qualifications and Experience

I trained at the Wealden Institute for Counselling and Psychotherapy, in Crowborough, which is known for it's experiential approach to training. It was rigorous, with high expectations for our own personal therapy and commitment to clinical supervision. My foundational training was in humanistic integrative counselling and I've continuously developed my practice since, to incorporate new and creative ways of working. My approach is trauma-informed and I'm a member of the Trauma Therapist Network, which is part of my dedication to continued professional development.

Recent trainings include:
'Bottom-Up Strategies for Trauma Stabilization: A Phase-Oriented Approach' with Linda Thai, Academy of Therapy Wisdom
Brainspotting Phase 1 and 2, with Mark Grixti, Brainspotting UK

I have previously offered support for clients at Survivors Network, BIMM Music Institute, MindOut and Pavilions (now CGL). I set up my private practice in 2020, which is currently my sole professional focus.

Fees:

Individuals sessions are are £60 for 50 minutes

Intimate partner sessions are £80 for 60 minutes

(the options of shorter or longer sessions can be discussed)

Please be aware that individual sessions take place on a weekly basis, I'm unable to offer fortnightly or monthly sessions.

I offer a free initial meeting via zoom where we can spend around 30 minutes together and get a sense of whether I'm the right therapist for you.

For my cancellation policy and other practicalities, please view my Therapy Contract for further information.

Location

My main practice is based in the Hanover area of Brighton, a 2-minute walk from The Level. The premises are quiet and confidential, the room is light and cosy, and there is a gender-neutral  bathroom on the same floor.

(The building is unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible; I'm currently looking for an additional, more inclusive, practice room.)
